파이어폭스3 가 Beta4로 업데이트 되었습니다.

Beta5는 3월말쯤 업데이트 한다고 합니다.

Beta4는 이전 버전보다 약 900여 항목이 개선이 되었습니다.

개선된 사항은 성능, 메모리 사용, 플랫폼, 사용자 인터페이스 등입니다.

파이어폭스 3에서 Profile-Guided Optimization (PGO) 도입으로 인해서 자바스크립트 처리속도가 향상이 되었다고 하니 기대가 됩니다.

최근까지 애드온 때문에 베타버전은 사용하지 않고 있었는데 베타3부터 사용을 하였습니다.

당분간 베타 사용하는 재미(?)를 느껴봐야겠네요.

윈도우를 사용하다 보면 필요없는 레지스트리라던지 프로그램을 삭제하고 남은 찌꺼기가 많이 남게 된다.

( 본인은 노트북은 리눅스, 데스크탑은 윈도우즈로 운용하고 있다.)

이런 불필요한 것들을 제거해 주면 윈도우 관리에도 도움이 된다.

사용한지 2년쯤 된 프로그램을 하나 소개해 볼까 한다. 시스템 관리툴은 추천하기 쉽지 않은데 CCleaner(Crap Cleaner)라는 툴인데 외국의 유명자료실에서 좋은 평가를 받고 있고 프로그램 인터페이스 자체도 깔끔하며 한글버전을 지원한다.

아직까지 써본 바로는 아무런 문제점을 발견하지 못하였다.

사용방법 역시 간단하다.

프로그램은 다음과 같이 크게 세부분으로 나뉜다.

"CCleaner" - 쓸모없는 파일 삭제

"문제" - 레지스트리 청소

"도구" - 프로그램 추가/삭제, 시작 프로그램 설정

레지스트리 백업시에는 만일을 대비하여 백업을 해두는 것도 좋다.

모질라에 따르면 파이어폭스3 베타 3 가 릴리즈 되었습니다.

이번 베타의 주된 타겟은 웹 개발자들 이며 정식버전은 사용자들을 위한 버전이 될것이라고 합니다.

다음은 Beta 3에서 개선된 점입니다.

• [Improved in Beta 3!] Malware Protection: malware protection warns users when they arrive at sites which are known to install viruses, spyware, trojans or other malware. (Try it here!)
• [Improved in Beta 3!] New Download Manager: the revised download manager makes it much easier to locate downloaded files, and displays where a file came from. Your active downloads and time remaining are always shown in the status bar as your files download.
• [Improved in Beta 3!] Podcasts and Videocasts can be associated with your media playback tools.
• [Improved in Beta 3!] Star button: quickly add bookmarks from the location bar with a single click; a second click lets you file and tag them.
• [Improved in Beta 3!] Location bar & auto-complete: type in all or part of the title, tag or address of a page to see a list of matches from your history and bookmarks; a new display makes it easier to scan through the matching results and find that page you're looking for. New in Beta 3 is an improved search algorithm which calculates the recency and frequency of a visit to come up with a frecency score that is used to determine the most relevant results.
• [Improved in Beta 3!] Speed: Major architectural changes (such as the move to Cairo and a rewrite to how reflowing a page layout works) put foundations in place for major performance tuning which have resulted in speed increases that continue to increase page drawing speed in Beta 3. This release also features over 90 changes that improve performance over the previous beta.
• [Improved in Beta 3!] Memory usage: Over 350 individual memory leaks have been plugged, and a new XPCOM cycle collector completely eliminates many more. Developers are continuing to work on optimizing memory use (by releasing cached objects more quickly) and reducing fragmentation. Beta 3 includes more than 50 improvements to memory use over the previous beta.

속도와 메모리 사용에서 개선사항이 있네요.

앞으로도 많은 발전이 있어서 점유율을 높여갔으면 합니다.
